In a major emergency situation Hays County and other authorized jurisdictions throughout Hays County -- emergency responders, school districts, cities, utilities, law enforcement, etc. -- will provide emergency information about the situation via this HaysInformed blog to provide a one-stop, coordinated emergency information page. This page is designed to provide accurate, real-time emergency information for the public and media from agencies throughout Hays County.
All information will be provided by authorized personnel for the jurisdiction managing a particular aspect of the emergency. During an emergency, organizations may also issue press releases to the media which will be posted here as well. We encourage you to rely on this as a source of official information and not to be distracted by rumors and unofficial social media posts.
Please do not call 9-1-1 or your local government for updates to the emergency situation. 9-1-1 is for emergency assistance only and local governments in Hays County are not staffed to answer general information calls during emergency situations.
As of 31Jan2014, you can get info posted here at www.facebook.com/haysinformed or sent to your Twitter feed by following @haysinformed.
